Every misdeed has a price, and infidelity is no exception. A secret rendezvous. A man cheats on his wife. A woman cheats on her husband. Then, everything goes bad, really swiftly. It just goes to show, the perfect life can be a perfect lie.

Holly (Forlani, Meet Joe Black) plays a woman who gets more than she bargained for when she commits adultery. In fact, when a couple’s infidelity is discovered, they must play a twisted game of survival with their captor to save their family members from being murdered. Their weekend getaway turns into a nightmare of psychological mind games, where they will do anything just to survive.

Set in the lavish suite of an upscale Aspen hotel, An Affair to Die For is an evocative thriller. The title and description attract attention. As the story opens we see Holly arriving at the hotel suite for the assignation for which her younger lover has clearly prepared. It’s obvious from the beginning that things are going to get twisted.

An intriguing title and a capable premise, but there are times when you question the aptitude of the characters, decisions and actions. Twists and turns with some decent acting.

The frenetic pace of surprises start with the lover, Everett (Abel, Love and Mercy), arriving late. Why? He was literally tied up … and the captor appears to be Russell (Welliver, Navy Seals, Bosch) … Holly’s husband.

Director Garcia (Mirrors 2, Hellraiser: Revelations and Gallows Hill) manages to instill the business at hand with perceptible panache, notwithstanding the sometimes confined setting.
