Finalists chosen for digital awards

The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has announced the finalists in its Australian Government Digital Awards to be presented in Canberra in October.

Formerly known as the ICT Awards, the new-look event will recognise excellence in Government digital products and services, partnerships and individuals.

DTA said the awards were an opportunity for Government to showcase excellence in digital products, services, partnerships and individuals.

It said nominations had been invited from Federal, State, Territory and Local Governments and from industry where appropriate.

“There are nine awards you can nominate for under Outstanding Digital Service, Excellence in Partnerships and Individual Contribution,” DTA said.

The finalists are as follows:

Outstanding Digital Product or Service Award

* Department of Health – for helping Australians make informed choices about their aged care;

* Department of Communications – for BriefCASE;

* NSW Local Government – (Northern Beaches Council) for digitising Northern Beaches Council’s Waste Management Experience;

* Department of Social Services – for Carer Gateway website;

* Australian Taxation Office – for online services for agents;

* Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade – for AusConnect – connecting people and partners across the Australian Aid Program;

* Victoria Local Government – (City of Boroondara) for Add Life to Your Years: Promoting active ageing.

Outstanding Digital Platform Award

* Geoscience Australia – for Digital Earth Australia Hybrid Cloud Platform for exploiting Satellite Imagery of Australia;

* Transport NSW – for contactless transport payments; Customer Service NSW for NSW digital design system;

* Department of Premier and Cabinet, Victoria – for single digital presence;

* Department of Human Services – for new payments platform;

* Today Design – for My Victoria.

Outstanding Use of Emerging Technology Award

* Department of Agriculture – for automated biosecurity screening;

* Usercentric – for PMCV allocation and placement service;

* Australian War Memorial – for On Closer Inspection;

* Queensland Treasury – for tax insights powered by machine learning;

* Dynatrace – for excellence in monitoring customer-centric service delivery;

* Queensland Health – for advancing customer excellence through innovation;

* Department of Industry – for VeRA, the venture capital reporting and analytics system.

Outstanding Digital Methodology or Approach Award

* Transport Queensland – for TMR digital incubator;

* Service NSW – for easy to do business product;

* National Heavy Vehicle Regulator – for AgileSWIFT;

* Department of Premier and Cabinet, Victoria – for Pick my Project;

* IP Australia – for transactional digital services program;

* Department of Home Affairs – for redesign and launch of myHR intranet site;

* Department of Health – for Head to Health, Australia’s digital mental health gateway;

Excellence in Government-industry Partnership Award

* Transport Queensland – for Partnering with industry to build Government digital capability;

* Geoscience Australia – for Satellites to Insights – environmental intelligence for agri-business;

* Design Tobias – for putting the consumer at the heart of the new Consumer Data Right;

* Department of Home Affairs–Pegasystems – for enterprise process management system;

* Oakton – for MyService Beta;

* Telstra – for Housing Connect – collaborative design for innovative social change;

* Engine Group – for Lifechecks.

Excellence in Multi-agency Partnership Award

* Department of Home Affairs – for shared testing services;

* National and State Libraries Australia – for National edeposit – A national digital collection for Australia;

* Austrade/Department of Industry – for Austrade and business.gov.au;

* CSIRO – for Innovation Catalyst Global;

* Treasury/Australian Taxation Office – for eInvoicing;

* Department of Home Affairs – for passport reader app for biosecurity officers;

* Geoscience Australia – for cross-Government collaboration to better understand water use in the Murray Darling Basin.

“Each nomination is an acknowledgement of the excellent work that Government does, and to have a project nominated is a proud achievement,” DTA said.

It said the winners will be announced at a Digital Awards dinner at the National Convention Centre in Canberra on 3 October, following the Digital Summit 2019.
