NSW Police have established a strike force to dismantle street-level criminal groups involved in violent acts in Sydney’s west.

Investigators from North West and South West Metropolitan Regions, and the Police Transport Command, established Strike Force Imbara in July to investigate the activities of local street-level criminal networks.

NSW Police said the inception of Imbara followed an alleged brawl in Parramatta CBD, which saw Police Transport Command arrest and charge nine men.

“Investigators are also being assisted by Strike Force Raptor and have adopted the consequence-based policing model to further disrupt criminal activities and the anti-social and violent behaviour of these groups,” they said.

“It is a proactive operation and combines intelligence-based investigations with high-visibility policing to target criminal activity and prevent public acts of violence.”

They said investigators were conducting inquiries into a number of assaults and other public acts of violence, which they believed to be linked to the alleged brawl in Parramata.

The police reminded the community that they were the key to ensuring their neighbours were safe and they urged anyone with information that could assist them in their inquiries to come forward.

They said information, which can be provided to local police or through Crime Stoppers, will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Police urged anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Imbara investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
