The City Renewal Authority has brought back the Playful Endeavour loose-parts playground at Glebe Park in Civic to run for the duration of the school holidays.

The playground will be open every day from 10am to 4pm (from 1pm on Anzac Day) with a collection of found and manufactured materials selected to encourage creative play and social interaction.

Chief Executive of the City Renewal Authority, Malcolm Snow said activities for children were important in making Civic more attractive to families.

“Good cities are full of socially connected places that welcome families and are attractive to a wide variety of people,” Mr Snow said.

“We want to show people there are many great spaces in Civic that can be used to help make our city centre a family destination.”

He said Playful Endeavour proved to be popular when it was in Civic Square last year (pictured) it would be interesting to see how children and families would interact with it in the more natural setting at Glebe Park.

“More and more families are living within our city centre and we need to continue to make it a place that welcomes children,” Mr Snow said.

“Temporary activations like Playful Endeavour help us show people that Civic is a great place for families to live as well as visit.

Playful Endeavour isn’t a traditional playground with swings and slides; instead it has a range of items like hoops, poles, pipes, crates, ropes and tyres that children can use to create their own games and activities.”

Playful Endeavour will run until 26 April.
