The public sector workers’ compensation Agency, Comcare, is to conduct a series of forums around the country from April to October, promoting better work health and safety (WHS) practices.
The forums, which are conducted annually, give participants an overview of existing and emerging issues across Comcare’s diverse jurisdiction that covers around 400,000 employees nationally.
This year’s theme, Engaging Others and Tackling WHS Risk, offers organisations the chance to improve their understanding of WHS, rehabilitation obligations and how to adopt better practices.
The program includes updates from the inspectorate and sessions covering prevention, risk management and safety culture.
In a statement, Comcare said the forums were also an opportunity for networking and sharing work health and safety challenges with a range of WHS practitioners.
“The forums also provide an opportunity for stakeholders to provide feedback on the work of Comcare to identify areas where additional support, guidance and resources can be provided,” the statement said.
Comcare said the forums were open to members of Comcare’s jurisdiction and would be relevant to all members of the jurisdiction who work in or have an interest in work health and safety.
“The free full-day program will be held in every capital city and two regional centres, Newcastle and Cairns,” the statement said.
