APS Senior Executive Service
Band 1
Katrina Dwyer has been appointed as Senior Assistant Ombudsman for Defence, Investigations, ACT and Legal at the Commonwealth Ombudsman.
Renee Collyer has been appointed as the new Assistant Director-General of Corporate Governance at the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA).
Ignatius McBride has been promoted to National Manager for Operational Analytics at the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre.
Sheriel Hughes is the new branch manager for program delivery at the Australian Digital Health Agency.
Other Federal Appointments
Since the federal election was called on 28 March, the Australian Government was in a caretaker period in the lead-up to the election on 3 May. Until the new government is sworn in, government operations are conducted in accordance with the caretaker conventions, and there will likely be few appointments to key federal agencies until then.
States and Territories
Jacqueline Agius has been reappointed as the ACT’s Work Health and Safety Commissioner for a further five years, until April 2030.
Natassia Wheeler and Michael Nelson have been appointed to Queensland’s Wet Tropics Management Authority Board. The organisation manages and protects the Far North’s Wet Tropics World Heritage Area to ensure its conservation, sustainable use, and engagement with Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
The Queensland Government has announced four new appointments to the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA). Caitlin McConnel has become the organisation’s first female chair, with Bruce Vandersee, Danica Olsen and Ari McCamley named as directors.
Dr Michael Drew has been appointed as the new chair of the Jobs Queensland Board, while Deirdre von Guilleaume has also been appointed to the board.
Karen Hooper and Angela Moody have been appointed as Commissioners of Queensland’s Productivity Commission.
Lee Miezis has been appointed as the new CEO of Parks Victoria.
Daniel Miller has been appointed as chair of Parks Victoria, with Kate Auty, Graeme Dear, Trent Nelson and Chris Newton also joining the board.
Ben Broyd has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner for South Australia’s Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) for a three-year term.
Michelle Baxter has been appointed as acting chief executive of Ambulance Tasmania from 30 May pending a recruitment search, after current chief executive Jordan Emery announced he would step down.
The Tasmanian Government has appointed nine new members to the King’s Counsel: Aziz Melick, Fabian Dixon, Peter Tree, Andrew Abbott, Bruce McTaggart, William Ayliffe, Kate Mooney, Robert Benjamin and Matthew Verney.
