ArtsACT is to host an information session next week for artists and arts organisations looking for financial support for their activities.

The next round of the Arts Activities Funding opens on 1 December.

According to ArtsACT the grants program is aimed at a number of activities, including people planning an artform-based project, a mentorship or residency, looking for professional or skills development, or helping the community engage in the arts.

In a statement, it said the $5-50K Arts Activities Funding replaces the Project and Out of Round funding categories.

“It is available to ACT-based artists at all stages of their careers and to organisations providing the Canberra community with opportunities to engage in the arts,” the statement said.

“Arts Activities Funding aims to be flexible, responsive and more frequent, with fewer restrictions on eligible activities and more opportunities to apply.”

The statement said activities could relate to dance, literature, music, theatre, visual arts and arts based festivals.

“Government support for the screen sector is provided through Screen Canberra and all activities relating to screen or film should apply to Screen Canberra,” the statement said.

The Arts Activity Funding information session will be held on 4 December, 6pm-to-7.30pm at the Ainslie Arts Centre, Elouera Street, Braddon.

Applications close on 28 February 2019, with the outcome announced by 31 May 2019.

Funding is for activities beginning from 1 July 2019.
