With plenty of chat about gender equality, the disparity of wages that never seems to be rectified and a capable and personable woman as the head of the Australian Government Workplace Gender Equality Agency, you have to feel frustration that we can’t get a better deal for women in the workplace.
Libby Lyons has a formidable set of credentials to lead the Agency but the numbers are still not good enough.
Releasing the fifth year of data collection and a small but not significant gap narrowing did little to see enough progress in the promoting and improving of gender equality.
So is there a better solution?
We see positives in many areas but progress is not something we can get excited about.
And while Libby Lyons works closely with employers to achieve gender equality the pay gap is still wide as is the intent of all who employ women in work where the pay gap is still an issue.
