The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) has issued its Corporate Plan for 2023-24.
Announcing the Plan, the Department said its our purpose was to provide support to the Prime Minister, the Cabinet, portfolio Ministers and assistant Ministers to improve the lives of all Australians.
It said it would also include coordination of Government activities, effective policy advice and development, and program delivery.
“Our Corporate Plan 2023–2024 outlines the department’s purpose, role, operating environment, capability, approach to risk management, and performance reporting framework,” the Department said in a statement
“It sets out our key activities to achieve our purpose and how we will measure performance over the next four years.”
“The plan is our primary planning document and sets out the five-key activities:
* Effective and timely advice;
* Helping our partner agencies deliver on Government priorities;
* Coordination and support for national and international agendas;
* Collaborate, communicate and engage; and
* Deliver Government programs and priorities
The Department said each activity was delivered with a range of performance measures and targets by which we will measure and report on our achievements and progress in our annual report.
Secretary of the Department, Professor Glyn Davis, said that towards the end of 2022 the Prime Minister thanked PM&C staff for their service.
He quoted the PM as saying: “This takes a lot of effort … But it matters for Australia.”
“In substance, the Prime Minister’s words express the meaning of the vital work we do as public servants, delivering for Australians and Australia,” Professor Davis said.
“The words give purpose, also, to the priorities we set as PM&C.”
