The Kimberley and Pilbara regions’ crucial tourism, hospitality, construction and automotive industries are set to benefit from two major upgrades to North Region TAFE campuses.
A new training centre for students wishing to enter the tourism and hospitality industries has been established at the TAFE’s Broome Campus.
The project consists of two state-of-the-art buildings, linked by an outdoor meeting place, creating a community-feel for students.
A purpose-built hospitality and tourism training centre, comprises a training restaurant, commercial kitchen, alfresco café and a hair and beauty training facility, delivering industry-standard practice with dedicated spaces for simulated training.
An administration building has been redeveloped to provide additional space for student and corporate services.
Also upgraded is the North Regional TAFE’s Minurmarghali Mia (Roebourne) Campus, with new multi-purpose training facilities playing a key role in connecting the local Aboriginal community to vocational education and training.
The redevelopment consists of four new classrooms which will be used across a range of training areas, including an IT laboratory and art classroom, a new industry workshop for construction trades training and an upgrade to the existing light automotive workshop.
Minister for Training, Simone McGurk said consultation with local Aboriginal people had resulted in the campus having a vibrant, community-focused atmosphere, with outdoor learning spaces, and male and female student hubs.
“These incredible new facilities at North Regional TAFE are a major boost for training in the region,” Ms McGurk said.
