Western Australia is linking with Singapore again for the annual Plating Up WA gastronomic campaign.
Plating Up WA is an initiative of Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s Buy West Eat Best program.
It will run during June, showcasing dishes that feature the State’s best winter ingredients, paired with local craft beer, wine or non-alcoholic beverages.
Minister for Agriculture and Food, Jackie Jarvis said more than 40 Western Australian restaurants, cafes and bars would be taking part, with ingredients ranging from local potatoes and winter vegetables to Wagyu beef, organic beef shin tomahawk, lamb, seasonal seafood, truffles and hemp hearts.
“For the second year the campaign has been extended internationally, with Plating Up WA: Singapore Edition supported by the Invest and Trade Western Australia’s Singapore office,” Ms Jarvis said.
“More than 20 venues will plate up WA’s finest ingredients for patrons in Singapore from 23 June to 23 July.”
She said the State’s local food, beverage and hospitality industries had faced significant challenges over the past few years, but continued to demonstrate resilience and innovation in finding new solutions.
“The Plating Up WA campaign is an opportunity to get behind our local producers, cafes, restaurants and hospitality venues and enjoy some of the delicious produce they have on offer,” the Minister said.
Minister for Tourism, Roger Cook said the campaign expanded into Singapore for the first time last year, providing an opportunity for Western Australian producers to explore new market opportunities beyond their region.
“Western Australia and Singapore are partnering once again, which gives international consumers a unique dining experience with WA produce,” Mr Cook said.
