A new Augmented Reality app, (AR) produced by Comet Bay College in collaboration with developer Viewpoint XR, is expected to educate students about Australia’s service people and the sacrifices they have made.
The Anzac AR App preserves Australia’s military history and can be used as a tool in the classroom to teach military history lessons in an interactive and engaging way.
The app includes digital AR projections of veterans who share their stories of service.
Minister for Education, Tony Buti said the app also featured AR vehicles, uniforms and equipment where users could investigate the items close up and learn about their military history and features.
“There are also 360-degree immersive experiences of locations relevant to military history, as well as a gallery of honour featuring AR portraits of veterans,” Dr Buti said.
“The Anzac XR App will be shared with schools in Australia and will also be available to be downloaded by all Australians on a smartphone or tablet.”
Minister for Defence Industry, Paul Papalia said the project by Comet Bay College was a fantastic initiative that would help preserve Australia’s military history and educate younger generations about the Anzac legacy in an engaging way.
“Users of the app will have access to life-like projections of veterans, equipment, uniforms, locations and vehicles, providing a unique learning opportunity for students,” Mr Papalia said.
