Sydney based singer/songwriter Holly Wild’s latest release is a powerful song about negative self-talk.
Most of us have experienced the feelings of self-doubt, and for some of us those misgivings can be quite debilitating.
Holly has tackled her self-negativism by turning it into a fantastic song that should be an instant hit.
The song’s intent and the recording process has led to a track that is heavier than much of her other folk influenced songs, a song with a chorus that is strident, but positive.
There’s a grittiness to Inside My Head that reinforces the struggle Holly endures to shut out the constant questioning of self-worth and doubt in her abilities.
She comments that “the endless loop keeps telling me that I’m a Jack of all trades but master of none.
“Chipping away at my self-confidence every day telling me I’m not good enough”
I personally relate to this as I have often described myself in the same way.
A jack of all trades but master of none.
Good enough to make the team but never one of the best players.
And I’m sure I’m not alone and that many of you would have felt the same.
I console myself by saying ‘at least I had a go… at least I did that’ but feelings of inadequacy remain.
Holly has achieved some success in Australia with her songs making local playlists and the music press in both the United States of America and the United Kingdom have posted favourable reviews of her work.
If she keeps churning out songs as good as Inside My Head it surely won’t be long before she’s known and respected internationally as a songwriter of worth.
Chalk up a knockout win for Holly over the naysaying voices.
