NSW’s maritime facilities are to receive improvement make-overs as part of the $28 million State-wide Boating Now Program with applications for grants opening this week.
Minister for Transport, Andrew Constance said the proposed funding was the third round in the Program, which has already delivered over 200 projects.
“This program delivers improved maritime access and safety at facilities right across NSW,” Mr Constance said.
“Through funding partnerships with Councils, community groups and industry we can create a more enjoyable, and safer, boating experience for everyone,” he said.
Mr Constance said projects previously funded under the Boating Now Program included a pontoon and boat ramp upgrade at the Sylvania Boat Ramp in Sydney; the installation of an equal access kayak launch on the Edward River; and the boat ramp expansion and pontoon installation at Laurieton along the Camden Haven River.
“The Boating Now Program funds collaborative projects that support economic and community benefits in key regional and Sydney locations,” Mr Constance said.
“It also aims to provide better access to NSW waterways for local and visiting boaters so they can enjoy their time on the water with safety and ease,” he said.
“Boating Now funding comes from boating licence and registration fees.”
Mr Constance said the Program was part of the NSW Maritime Infrastructure Plan 2019 – 2024 which set out the approach to NSW Government spending in maritime infrastructure.
Expressions of interest in the grants program can be made from the coming Friday (25 October) at this PS News link.
