The next round of consultation to develop a third Open Government National Action Plan 2020-2022 (NAP3) has been announced by the Open Government Partnership Australia (OGPAU), hosted by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

A report released in tandem with the consultation details the engagement and consultation activities undertaken between November 2019 and this February, collating wide-ranging ideas gathered from the public.

The consultation was informed by eight workshops held in metropolitan and regional centres across Australia; 210 survey submissions; and participation in the NAP3 online engagement space by 120 members of the public.

In a statement, OGPAU said it had now moved into the drafting and deliberation phase and was seeking comments from stakeholders and community members.

“Public comments will be reviewed by seven working groups which have been convened across Government and civil society to develop draft commitments for NAP3,” OGPAU said.

“Draft commitments will be considered by the Open Government Forum for inclusion in the draft NAP3 which is scheduled to be published on the Open Government Partnership website in September for further public comment.”

It said the Open Government Partnership was an international initiative focusing on making Governments more open and transparent and improving decision-making processes.

Since its launch in 2011, more than 70 countries have committed to the initiative, with Australia joining in 2015 and delivering two national action plans to date.

The Action Plan can be accessed at this PS News link and comments can be made on the OGPAU website at this link.
