The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has released a new strategy aimed at making Australia one of the top three digital Governments in the world.

The ‘Vision 2025’ strategy sets out three priorities that will put people and businesses at the centre of everything Government does.

It aims to make Government fit for the digital age with information people needed and which was easier to access.

Announcing the strategy, Minister for Human Services and Digital Transformation, Michael Keenan said the focus would be on integrated digital services, using data and increasing trust and transparency, as well as lifting the digital capability of the Government.

He said this would provide people with greater flexibility when dealing with the Government, would use seamless services that supported needs and life events, and provided easier ways to engage on important matters.

“Your privacy and security will continue to be at the forefront of everything we do,” Mr Keenan said.

He said the strategy was accompanied by a comprehensive roadmap that outlined the planned initiatives to help achieve goals.

“It is an enormous journey,” Mr Keenan said, “one that will ultimately impact every Government Department, and every Australian.”

He said the people of Australia expected the same experience interacting with Government as they had with innovative, leading private sector organisations.

“They expect us to meet the highest standards of service delivery, customer experience, simplicity, flexibility and ease of use,” he said.

“It will take a combined effort, and we will work closely with other tiers of Government, industry, academia and the community sector, reporting back on our performance, making changes that address your feedback and emerging opportunities as we go.”

He said the strategy would set the direction of the Government’s work to 2025.
