Sustainability Victoria (SV) has given itself eight years to accomplish the goals in a newly launched 10-year strategy to accelerate Victoria’s transition to a circular, climate resilient and clean economy.
Releasing SV2030: A Decade of Change, Interim Chief Executive of SV, Matt Genever said the Strategy supported the State’s targets to have 50 per cent of electricity come from renewable sources and to halve food waste by 2030.
“The SV2030 Strategy is bold, ambitious and built on evidence that highlights the big changes that we need to make globally,” Mr Genever said.
“We’re talking about clean energy, zero emissions, climate resilience and circularity principles,” he said.
“SV2030 is our big picture – it sets out our vision and how we will get there.”
Mr Genever said SV’s ambition was to develop and deliver fit-for-purpose high impact solutions to the challenges posed by the complex and rapidly changing environment.
“Achieving this vision involves all of us working together – our future depends on it.”
He said the Strategy focused SV’s action on three areas, Investment and Innovation, Behaviour Change and Education, and Community Action.
He said SV2030 would see the Agency expand its investment facilitation services to provide advisory business planning and facilitation services to a wider range of partners – both within and outside Government
Mr Genever said SV would continue to work in partnership with communities and develop new business ecosystems to create a new model of ownership based on renting rather than owning products and businesses.
He said the new ecosystems and models responded to demand for recycled materials for Victoria’s infrastructure build.
“Every day, every Victorian can take action,” he said.
“We will work together, knowing that starting, speeding and scaling up our collective efforts will achieve greater prosperity for Victoria, the economy and our planet,” Mr Genever said.
